Hains Celestial sells French organic food company

Wessanen acquired Danival, a French organic food company, from The Hains Celestial Group.

ANDIRAN, France – Danival, an organic food company located in South West France, was officially acquired by the multinational food company Wessanen, which is based in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

According to a statement released by Wessanen, Danival, a certified Sustainable Organic Company (BioED®), which employs approximately 120 people, has promoted sustainable local development for over 30 years and supports more than 30 local French farmers.

“(Danival) is a pioneer in the organic French market with strong commitments: 100% organic, locally sourced, free from flavors, food colorings, and thickeners,” said Christophe Barnouin, Wessanen CEO in a statement. “It reinforces our commitment to the French HFS channel and strengthens our position in the Veggie Meals category with its own production facilities and local sourcing in South West France. Our ambition is to further grow Danival’s business and leverage their sustainability commitment across Wessanen.”

The Danival divesture by The Hains Celestial Group, a Lake Success, New York-based organic and natural products company with global operations, was part of a strategic plan to simplify the company’s brand portfolio and improve margins and cash flow, said Mark L. Schiller, Hain Celestial’s president and CEO, in a release.
